Day 4 - National Rose Month

'Scentimental' - Floribunda

A beautiful rose

Need help with a rose problem? The American Rose Society has resources to help!

ARS certified Consulting Rosarians are available free of charge to answer your rose growing questions. Because they are in every state in the union, a local rosarian can help you identify roses that are hardy for your particular area. They can also answer questions about disease and insects.

It's National Rose Month. I am showcasing a rose a day during the month of June.

All roses are grown in my garden. Just sayin....

Grow Roses. Show Roses. Share Roses.

People & Roses Project Week 4 - June Bloom Day 3

What better way to celebrate National Rose Month than by picturing people enjoying our National Floral Emblem. Today is day 3 of our rose a day for the month of June and I am including a photo of Birmingham socialite Susie Kissel with her blooms of "Betty Prior" at the Birmingham Rose Show.

This summer, I want to challenge you to take pictures of people with roses.
It doesn't matter if they are in the garden, at a rose show, at an event or just holding a handful of blooms. Be creative.

I am featuring the entries on Fridays this summer on a weekly "People & Roses" blog post.

Send them to me at: Chris@RedneckRosarian.com

On August 30, I will draw from all the entries received. You could win one of the following:

1 year membership to the American Rose Society

A 3-pack of Annie Haven's Soil Conditioner, "Moo Poo" tea.

If you choose to participate, I believe you will capture something beautiful.

Veteran's Honor - Hybrid Tea - Rose A Day in June

This is a wonderful hybrid tea.

Very little disease and wonderful classic hybrid tea buds and blooms.

Have seen this rose win 'Queen' at many rose shows.
These were for my wife. Which made me 'King', if but for a day......

It's National Rose Month.

Your local Rose Society and the American Rose Society has resources to get you growing!

Check out a listing of local societies on the ARS website.

Summer Garden Tours

As a part of our local rose society, each year in May, June and July we hold monthly meetings out in the gardens of our members and friends. This weekend we toured a members garden. I call it a hillside rose garden. This type of activity helps me to see someone else's gardening practices in action and I always come away with some good ideas and a list of roses I just gotta have! This garden was filled with beautiful roses and some spectacular climbing roses. A delicious meal was served by our hostess and a good time was had by all in attendance.
